You may or may not know but I am a die-hard fan for the Too Faced Born This Way collection and you must imagine my excitement when I saw the Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up the Light Palettes on Cult Beauty. The ‘light’ palette looked the perfect tone for my very pale complexion and before I knew it I had bought it! The variation of 3 intensities but of the similar depth appealed to me as I have never been a fan of highlighter palettes catered towards a variation of skin tones. I always found some shades would be too dark or a weird colour for me so I only ended up using half the palette so this feels like better value for money.
I have been testing out the Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up the Light Palette for a few weeks now so read on to hear my opinions on this product and whether I think it is worth your money…

Packaging
The Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up the Light Palette is very practical especially for travel due to the large mirror and variation of shades that can be mixed or worn alone for different occasions. The palette is quite large and has a substantial amount of product for each highlighter so it feels like good value for money. The gold and black packaging is in keeping with the rest of the Too Faced Born This Way range so if you own any of the other products they would look exceptionally good together on your vanity.
Shade breakdown
Each of the four Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up the Light Palette’s contain three different shades of baked powder. The powders are individually named, and the same across all four shade options, and are designed to give a different look when used individually or blended together.
To soften and blur with ‘Soft Focus‘ place it on larger areas of the face to set foundation or simply where you’d like some subtle brightening. I also enjoy using Soft focus like a traditional highlighter as it gives a gentle soft glow that looks very natural and smooth – perfect for no-makeup makeup looks!
Create a strobing effect with ‘Glow‘. Apply like a traditional highlighter on the skin to pull forward highpoints of the face by enhancing the bone structure – like the cheekbone, bridge of the nose, under the brow bone, and the top of the chin.
Pinpoint where you want the brightest sparkle and apply ‘Dazzle‘. Pop it on the top of the cheekbone, the centre of the eyelid, the tip of the nose, and the cupid’s bow for an extra dazzling look. Dazzle does have glitter particles in it and looks extra beautiful layered over ‘Glow’, it is definitely not for the faint-hearted but perfect for a nighttime look.
Formula
The formula does differ between the shades; Soft Focus and Glow are very smooth and soft whereas I would say Dazzle is a bit rough due to the glitter particles. Despite that, all of the shades do sit well on your skin and do not disturb any other products they are placed on and last well throughout the day. The powder formula is infused with:
- Coconut Water: Aids in delicately replenishing skin’s moisture levels
- Alpine Rose: Helps empower skin’s health and radiance
- Hyaluronic Acid: Gives a smoother, more youthful appearance
Pros
- Skin tone focused palette so shades do not go unused
- The versatility of the shades
- Smooth and natural
- Travel-friendly packaging
Cons
- ‘Dazzle’ can be tricky to work with as it is rough due to the glitter particles
Final Thoughts
Overall, this is a versatile palette that is great for beginners who are on the hunt for some flexible highlighters. If you have struggled to find highlighting palettes with shades that all work with your skin tone this could be a product you end up falling in love with. I will keep using this palette especially with my no-makeup makeup looks as it gives the most radiant glow.
