As a faithful user of the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation (check out my review here!) I felt it was only logical for me to give the loose powder version ago also. I went into this product with very expectations so read on to hear whether it was a hit or miss…

What it claims: “Go ahead and lie. Coverage so natural, they’ll think you were . . . Born This Way. A silky, lightweight powder that sets make up for longer wear. This ethereal setting powder provides a veil of perfecting luminosity for a finish so natural, they ll think you were Born This Way. Universal shade complements all skin tones. Helps brighten and boost skins radiance. Hyaluronic Acid for a smoother, more youthful appearance.”
Packaging
Keeping in theme with the rest of the ‘Born This Way’ line the elegant packaging with the black lid and gold accents looks luxurious as ever. The screw-on lid is secure which is very important with loose powder as you don’t want the lid to fall off in your makeup bag and cause a big mess. There is also a ‘second lid’ which is a flap that keeps the powder in the container rather the sifter space which I think is a great touch as I have had bad experiences when travelling and all the powder sifting into the lid. All in all this packaging is cute, girly and sturdy whilst having little practical touches that make the experience significantly better.
Application
To apply this powder I either dust it over my face with a fluffy brush and buff it into my skin or take a beauty blender (such as the Real Techniques sponge) and press it into the skin. I normally use a sponge in my difficult areas such as under my eyes or nose which are prone to creasing and melting. The powder does come in three shades as well despite being ‘translucent’ which allows those of a darker skin tone to prevent any white cast/flashback.
Formula
As a dry skin sufferer, I felt this powder did not cling to any dry patches or accentuate any flaky skin. I put this down to the nourishing ingredients Too Faced infused into the powder such as:
- Coconut Water to aid in delicately replenishing skin’s moisture levels
- Alpine Rose to help brighten and boost skin’s radiance
- Hyaluronic Acid for a smoother, more youthful appearance
However, these ingredients may be a downside for those on the shiner side as you might find yourself requiring a touch up later on in the day!
Wear
This powder is incredibly silky and fine and looks undetectable on the face. I have found that a very sheer layer will set the skin beautifully whilst letting through a slight glow or you can add more for a mattifying, longer wearing base. I noticed most products blend evenly over the top without disturbing the base keeping it smooth and even. Using the powder definitely extends the wear of my makeup and I have certainly put it to the test with the scorching heatwaves recently and mask-wearing. Of course, it does not look perfect by the end of a hot, sweaty day but it is much better then if I went without.
Pros
- Smooths and mattifies skins without caking
- Increases makeup longevity
- Does not cling to dry patches
- The product lasts forever
- No flashback
Cons
- N/A
Final Thoughts
I use this powder every time I do my makeup and it has yet to let me down. When paired with the Born This Way Foundation it is a golden combo! It has suited everyone’s skin tone/texture I have applied it on and which shows just how versatile of a product it is! I would 100% recommend if you are on the hunt for a new loose powder as this one has been my staple at the moment.
