Chanel is known for its luxurious and high-quality products this bronzing cream has had a cult following for as long as I have known what makeup is. This cream has been something I have wanted to try for years as I have seen it hyped up on the internet forever but I could never justify the price as a teenager. I was delighted to find it had been bought for me as a birthday present and I could not have been more excited to get it on my face.
The re-launch of this bronzer previously known as Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel did cause waves in the beauty community as the fan favourite had been reformulated to remove many questionable ingredients and replaced with modern, botanical and skin-compatible alternatives such as coconut oil which many people had believed to be comedogenic. Chanel has subsequently ensured that this bronzer is non-comedogenic meaning it will not block your pores yet if coconut is something you are allergic to I would urge you to avoid this product however I have not had any problems!

What it claims: “A unique, lightweight and easy-to-blend cream-gel bronzer with a delicate, velvety finish that gives skin a natural sun-kissed glow.
The generously-sized jar makes it easy to swirl the kabuki brush, for effortless application.”
Packaging
In classic Chanel fashion, this bronzing cream comes in an elegant frosted pot with the infamous black twist lid and Chanel logo embossed on the top. The pot is relatively wide which makes it easy to swirl your brush into the product whilst still being light and compact. Due to the packaging being plastic I would not necessarily say this bronzer feels extremely luxurious however this does make it feel lighter and easier to travel with.
Shades
One major thing that brings down this product, in my opinion, is its shade range. Unfortunately, they only have one shade which has been deemed ‘universal’. As you can probably tell from the photos this bronzer is not exactly universal and would not suit someone with darker than medium skin. This is a big misstep on Chanel’s part as they could have easily included another two shades in this re-launch to open their product up to more of the market. I would have liked to see a similar shade range to Huda Beauty’s Tantour which has five shades from fair to rich.
However, on my complexion, the warm tone is extremely flattering and gives me a gorgeous healthy-looking complexion without being too muddy or orange. There is a slight golden sheen which overall contributes to that natural sun-kissed look.
Application
When applying this bronzer I have found it applies best with a dense brush such as a Morphe M439 Deluxe Buffer Brush which I will swirl into the product and stamp onto the skin. I will slightly blend out the bronzer with the brush and go over with my Real Techniques Complexion Sponge afterwards to ensure everything is seamlessly blended with my base. Personally, I found using a fluffier brush led to the product gripping to my base strangely and removing the foundation when I tried to blend.
Formula/Wear
This formula is incredibly creamy and buttery smooth when swatched and applied. As you blend it will warm up and melt into the skin seamlessly. Once it has set it will become more of a powder whilst still withholding that creamy finish which will give it longer longevity as it will not be slipping around your face.
Throughout the day I found this bronzer will stay put and be evident by the end of the day. It will be dependent on your base and whether you set it with powder however I feel radiant and confident whenever I use this bronzer throughout the whole day.
Pros
- Gorgeous, radiant colour for lighter skin tones
- Easy to blend
- Long-wearing
- Big pan size
Cons
- Expensive
- One shade
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, this bronzing cream gives me a gorgeous healthy glow (duh it is in the name!) that is very hard to replicate with any other creams or powders I have tried. I feel confident and radiant whenever I use this product as for the fact it is Chanel I feel luxurious when I am applying it. It is a treat to swirl my brush into this pot and apply it every morning! If you are looking for a way to treat yourself or you are on the search for a loved one’s gift this is a great option that I would highly recommend!
