Highlighter is one of my favourite products to apply when I do my makeup. It will always add that extra edge to my skin that will make my overall appearance seem healthier and youthful. Previously, I have heard great things about Colourpop Super Shock highlighter formula that when I was placing an order for some palettes it was a no brainer to throw a highlighter in my basket as well. If you would like to hear about my thought and experience with this highlighter read on…

What it claims: “This long-wearing crème powder cheek formula is the bff of our famous super shock shadows; it shares the same unique texture that is extremely buildable and blends smoothly to leave the cheeks looking healthy”
Packaging
This highlighter comes in a white compact with a windowed screw on top. The white plastic and silver writing is charming and but it definitely feels on the cheaper side. The clear window on the top does make it easy to identify which product you want to use which is especially handy if you have multiple shades.
Shades
- Flexitarian (pearlised white champagne)
- Lunch money (pearlised soft gold)
- Parasol (pearlised peachy gold)
- Stole the show (pearlised light warm silver)
- Over the moon (pearlised pink and violet opalescent)
- Hippo (pearlised cool-toned icy lavender)
- Felicity (glitter gold with pink and copper pearl)
- Wisp (pearlised golden champagne)
- Spellbound (glitter violet with pink and purple pearl)
Application
To apply I find it best to pat my ring finger into the highlighter and lightly tap it on to the high points of my face. To blend it out I tap back over it with a damp sponge that I used for my base makeup. This highlighter can go very blinding and if you want to build it up further you can simply repeat those steps until it is at your desired intensity. I enjoy applying it on the top of my cheeks bones, the bridge and tip of my nose, my tear ducts and brow bone.
Formula/Wear
For some reason, I was shocked to realise that the super shock range is not powder products. The product does feel almost creamy in the pot and turns to powder when applied. Using a sponge or brush to initially apply did not show good results for me and I found best to use my fingers and blend out afterwards. It looks smooths and leaves a natural shine on the skin when blended however it can be built up to a metallic finish if you want!
The overall wear time for these highlighters is incredible. After 12+ hours of wear, I can still see it on my skin. It can start looking disturbed if your base products are starting to wear but the product will last as long as what you applied it on does too.
Pros
- Buildable pigment
- Easy application
- Variety of shades
- Long-wearing
Cons
- Product is very soft and can break easily especially when travelling
Final Thoughts
To conclude I think that these highlighters are gorgeous and are a staple in my collection. Due to their versatility, I can get a lot of wear out them from day to day to glam night time looks. This highlighter can be built from natural to blinding and I find I get the most use out of it on my tear duct as it is just simply beautiful. I would highly recommend you go to Colourpop’s website and check out some of the shades for yourself to see which may suit your preferences!
