The Razor Must Be Sharp
A dull blade will not only leave you will an uneven shave it will be a host to many nicks, cuts and skin irritations you would much rather skip out on. Make sure your blade is also rust-free, you can lengthen their lifespan by keeping them out of the shower whilst not using it! My favourite long-lasting affordable razors are from Estrid, a razor subscription service, check it out here.
Do Not Shave On Dry Skin
Shaving on dry skin is a quick way to dull your blade or to get to those nasty nicks that seem to bleed way more than they should. Hop in the shower or soak in your bathtub before you shave to ensure your skin has that extra slip leaving them softer and easier to cut. When less force is needed to cut each hair, your shave can be more comfortable. You also add a layer of moisturiser after your shave to ensure your legs are hydrated to the max.
Use A Shaving Cream
Shaving cream creates a thin layer of protection between the blade and the skin, ensuring less friction and minimizing the risk of redness, razor burn, and irritation – and fewer nicks and cuts. The act of removing shaving cream as you shave helps you keep track of where you’ve already run your blade. This will help to ensure that you don’t miss a spot. Using shaving cream will help leave your skin feeling soothed and refreshed afterwards.
