As a makeup lover, I am always on the hunt for extraordinary foundations that do not break the bank. This foundation broke the internet when Nikkie Tutorials compared it to the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation which was a fan favourite at the time and triple the price! If you are someone who is a lover of full coverage glam this foundation just might be the gem you have been searching for. Read on to hear my thoughts and experience with the Maybelline SuperStay Full Coverage 24H foundation…

What it claims: “Achieve a flawless complexion with Maybelline’s Superstay 24H Liquid Foundation; a high-pigmented, full-coverage colour with a soft matte finish.
Blending seamlessly onto skin, the lightweight formula minimises the appearance of imperfections, whilst delivering natural-looking colour for a smooth, even makeup base that stays in place for all-day wear.”
Packaging
This foundation comes in a glass bottle with a plastic pump that feels moderately sturdy. The packaging is simple but it does look clean, modern and feels good quality for the low price you are paying. I have not experienced any problems with the packaging going faulty so far and I feel that it is a functional design that manages to not look too cheap.
Shades
For a drugstore foundation, the shade range is relatively inclusive. There is a similar amount of light, medium and dark shades across the board and they stock a wide range of skin depths and the undertones meaning most people will be able to find a shade that will match them!
Due to the full coverage element, it has a tendency to oxidise slightly so if you are debating between two shades I would recommend choosing the lighter one so you do not end up with a stark difference between your body and face.
Application
To apply this foundation I use a damp Real Techniques complexion sponge. As it is full coverage you do not need to initially go in with a lot of product as you can easily overdo it. It is always beneficial to build with light layers to give a smoother look and possibly use less product delivering the most flawless result.
I dab one pump of the foundation all over my face and blend it out using the sponge. Sometimes I find that this is usually enough but occasionally I will apply more to aid with blending down my neck or to aid with any severely troublesome areas at that time.
Coverage
As the bottle says this is a full coverage foundation. I have found with one pump I am able to cover my whole face with medium coverage but this easily can be amplified to full coverage with just another layer. This product is excellent for layering as it sits well on top of itself without disturbing the product underneath or feeling too heavy.
Wear
This foundation delivers one of my favourite finishes. I would say it is has a satin finish which can be mattified or made dewier with the use of additional products. The foundation feels weightless on my skin with a subtle glow on the highpoints of my face without looking too shiny. It is versatile and flexible with whatever products you use so if you decide to powder or use a hydrating mist you can easily alter the finish to your desire
Throughout the day the coverage stays in place exceptionally although the foundation can get a bit shiny. It does not slip and slide all over my face but does simply give a more youthful, dewy finish than when I started. This can be prevented by powdering with loose powder, not using a dewy setting spray (which I do) or maintained with powder once or twice throughout the day depending on how long you wear it. It is important to note that I do have drier skin so I would warn those on the oiler side that this is not a mattifying foundation and to expect shine throughout the day.
Pros
- Affordable
- Full coverage
- Diverse shade range
- Long-wearing
- Smooth and not cakey
- Convenient packaging (pump)
Cons
- Can get shiny throughout the day
Final Thoughts
To conclude, I get on with this foundation very well and it is my go-to when my skin is bad! It will even out any discolouration including acne whilst still looking smooth and nourished. If you are someone who appreciates higher coverage foundations it is a no-brainer to give this one a go due to the affordable price.
