Although I do love a full coverage flawless foundation some days I do fancy going lighter with my makeup and allowing my natural complexion to shine through. Sometimes I find high coverage makeup can appear heavy on the skin and noticeable throughout the day after hours of wear. This had lead to me preferring lighter coverages during the day and higher coverage of a night and Colourpop Pretty Fresh tinted moisturizer is just that!

What it claims: “A hydrating, oil-free tinted moisturizer with lightweight coverage that evens skintone and leaves your skin looking fresh and healthy. formulated with hyaluronic acid (aka ha) and coconut water to support skin hydration without adding oil, this tinted moisturizer works for all skin types and makeup styles – just customize your routine to create your own look!”
Packaging
Overall, I found the baby pink colouring of the range very charming and went well with the theme considering the ‘fresh’ focus. The outer packaging is the same colour as the product inside which I always favour with a base product. Usually, I have multiple colours of foundations and it helps a lot when it comes to picking out my shade for that day as my skin tone does vary quite a lot with the seasons and whether or not I am faked tanned.
Coverage
As stated in the name this product is a tinted moisturiser so it is very sheer although I do feel it can be built up to light coverage which will even out the tone of your skin. The tinted moisturiser is good at reducing any redness but be aware that an acne or acne scarring will likely still show through.
Nevertheless, using this product in combination with a concealer to spot concealer any areas you wish you can finish with a flawless complexion that does not seem to heavy at all on your skin.
Shades
As you can see in the image below there are 24 shades in the range which is a solid selection. They do offer different undertones for neutral or warm-toned skin, however, I would note some of the neutral shades do lean towards the pinker side so I would pay close attention to the swatches or use findation.com to help pick out your best match. For the type of product, I say this shade range is extensive enough as the lighter coverage the product the more leeway you have with shades as your natural skin shines through.
Application
As with most base products I prefer to apply liquid makeup with a sponge such as the Real Techniques Complexion Sponge. One thing to note is that using a sponge will sheer out makeup when compared to a brush though they are the key for a smooth application. As mentioned earlier I prefer to use about two small pumps for my entire face then spot conceal on any acne scarring.
The tinted moisturiser does appear very dewy and hydrating on first application which may be preferable for those that favour that finish yet I do powder down my base makeup with a loose powder to ensure it is set and will last throughout the day.

Wear
It will be best to preface here that I do have dry, dehydrated skin that has a tendency to get flakey through the day rather than shiny. When I wear this tinted moisturiser it does feel like I am wearing a moisturiser! My skin does not feel as tight throughout the day and there are no dry flakey patches even when I powder.
This does call to question how it would wear on someone with oily skin whether or not they will be an oil slick by the end but in my experience, I found my complexion to be very neutral throughout the day and comfortable.
Pros
- Affordable
- Good shade range
- Moisturizing
- Long-wearing
- Very smooth and lightweight
Cons
- Does not cover acne/acne scars (can be a con depending on the person)
Final Thoughts
Overall, I find this product enjoyable to use for day to day wear when I am going into University or into town with friends for lunch. It is very easy to wear and gives me that bit more confidence whilst still appearing fresh-faced! If lighter coverage products are more your thing I would 100% recommend you give this a go as the quality and price make it a no-brainer.
