As someone who has avoided makeup remover wipes due to my sensitive skin and their damaging effect on the environment I have been on the hunt for a suitable alternative. I had been recommended the Face Halo and became intrigued when I heard one Face Halo can replace up to 500 makeup wipes I decided to take the plunge and give it a go. Read on to hear about my experience…

Face Halo Pro
Price: £17.95/$22 for 3 Face Halos
Options: Either the Original (White) or Pro (Black). Virtually the only difference between the two is the colour. Face Halo say they recommend the Pro for heavier makeup however I feel it is just an aesthetic preference.
Where to buy: Look Fantastic (US/UK), Net-A-Porter, Revolve, Beauty Bay
What it claims
Face Halo’s Halotech fibres reach deep into pores to remove all the makeup better than any face wipe could. When soaked the water loosens the makeup allowing the HaloTech fibre strands (which are 100 times finer than a human hair) to reach deep into pores to remove and trap makeup, giving your skin a healthy and refreshing clean very quickly.
How I use it
To use my Face Halo, I simply wet the sponge, so it absorbs a lot of water and wipe my face gently in circular motions. I will wipe the majority of my face makeup off before focusing on my eyes. The shape of the sponge means it is easy to fold to get into your socket or focus on your eyelashes whilst still being very soft.
My experience
I am incredibly impressed with this makeup remover sponge. I have noticed that after removing my makeup, my skin felt amazingly clean but never stripped or dry. It was never irritated or red at all, but my face was spotless! To prove that I went in with my glycolic acid which would have removed any remaining makeup but there was nothing. I repeat nothing left on my skin.
Despite the Face Halo removing all my makeup I do like to go in with my The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser for a double cleanse plus the added benefits of the cleanser. I feel that using cleanser after means there is no barrier of makeup between the cleanser and skin, so it is super effective. The whole process is extremely quick meaning I don’t dread taking my makeup off too much of a night.

Caring for the Face Halo
After every use, I hand wash my Face Halo with soap and warm water to give it quick clean and hang it on my towel rack to dry. So, I use the three Face Halo’s that come in the pack in rotation and every one or two weeks chuck them in with the laundry for a deeper clean. Important: Do not use Fabric Softener when washing as it will leave a coating that will reduce the effectiveness of the HaloTech Fibres.
Final thoughts
Hands down I have been converted to the Face Halo. This is a magical product that is now an asset in my skincare routine when it comes to removing makeup. I am glad that I bought the Pro variation as I do not have to worry about staining. So, if you are on the edge of buying a Face Halo I would 100% recommend you give them a go because you will not regret it!
