What it claims: “Real Techniques by Sam Chapman introduces its new innovative Miracle Complexion Sponge. The Miracle Complexion Sponge will give you the pixel perfect, flawless base you have always dreamed of. The sponge is completely unique, featuring 3 distinct surfaces that give you 3 ways to apply liquid foundation.
Optimize your beauty routine with this 3-in-1 multi-functional sponge
- Rounded sides – blend large areas of the face with a repeated “dabbing” or “stippling” motion
- Precision tip – covers blemishes and imperfections
- Flat edge – for the contours around the eyes and nose
Its versatile design evenly blends makeup for a smooth, enhanced finish, use with your favourite foundation to help reduce the appearance of pores”
Size/Shape
When dampened the sponge grew dramatically and became a lot softer and squidgy. The large size makes makeup application a lot quicker. The Miracle Complexion sponge is an orange pointed oval with a flat edge. The tip is good for those tough-to-reach spots and the oval shape allows for quick blending on large areas of the face. The flat edge is the distinguishing feature of this sponge making it useful for baking, powder and a sharp contour.
Material/Texture
The material of this sponge when dampened is super soft, silky and very squidgy. I found this sponge was so soft that I had to be careful when cleaning and wetting it to not dig my nail in and tear it (I have done a couple of times now to my disappointment 🙁 ). This sponge does not absorb too much of the foundation or concealer, thereby avoiding any wastage of product.
Blendability
The size of this sponge makes blending foundation and concealer super easy and quick. The sponge leaves a very natural finish as the water in the sponge hydrates the base and gives even medium coverage that does not look cakey and easy to build upon.
Price
This sponge is very reasonably-priced. It is a high-quality product and when compared to similar products such as the BeautyBlender ($20/£16) it is a bargain. It is available in many stores and online in the UK making it super convenient to purchase. Additionally, it is available in multi-packs that lead to savings per sponge (pack of 4 for £17.99 so £4.50 each!).
Final Conclusion
For the price of this sponge, the quality is remarkable. To reiterate this sponge is super soft, and easy to blend with to get a flawless finish. The design makes application easier due to the 3-in-1 design to apply foundation, concealer and powder. This sponge is by far the best from the drugstore and I would recommend to anyone on the hunt for a sponge pick this one up and give it a go.
