Everybody loves a Lush product from their bath bombs to their face masks you always feel like you are pampering yourself while using them. Today we are going to discuss Lush’s Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub. I have been using this as a face exfoliator which is what it was initially designed for, but due to its popularity, Lush have also made it a body scrub.
It does have a very grainy texture, so if you are someone with sensitive or dry skin, I would recommend using this once a week maybe twice as it does have alcohol which is exceptionally great for cleansing the skin but could be drying if used frequently. As Lush products are designed around their ingredients, I am going to do an ingredient breakdown below

Lush Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub

What it claims: “Refreshing, exfoliating, hydrating…what doesn’t this scrub do? Our cult classic scrub has a mineral-rich mix of fine and coarse sea salt for serious exfoliation, balanced with coconut oil and avocado butter to soften the skin. That punchy citrus scent? It comes from lime oil as well as limes extracted in vodka to brighten and tone. Just one scrub with this beauty and you’ll see why it’s so popular!”
Fresh Grape Fruit
Grapefruit is used as antiseptic, astringent and antibacterial oil for conditions such as acne, congested and oily skin. It is a great toner leaving your skin fresh with loads of vitamin C and an uplifting scent.
Sea Salt
Using sea salt in cleansing products is an excellent way to benefit from the natural antiseptic and astringent properties of salt, which help to brighten the skin by boosting circulation. Sea salt is also rich in minerals and is excellent for scrubbing and buffing skin.
Lime extracted in vodka
The antibacterial effects of lime and the trace of alcohol in the product is ideal for skin that is suffering from blocked pores, blackheads or blemishes. It cleanses the skin and open pores leaving you with that fresh, squeaky clean result.
Avocado butter
Avocados are packed with essential unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins A, B, C and E, proteins, lecithin and potassium, which help to condition and moisturise the skin. The fruit also contains unsaturated oil that rehydrates skin, soothing the skin’s upper layers.

Application
As said before, use this product once to three times a week depending on your skin type. If your skin is on the oilier side exfoliate more to prevent oil buildup and if you are on the drier or sensitive side use once a week to avoid irritation. Before application, you will need to mix the scrub as the ingredients are separated into layers to preserve the salt. Apply the product to damp skin and rub slowly and gently in circular motions to exfoliate the skin.
You must scrub gently; otherwise, your skin may get irritated and red. Afterwards, rinse with some warm water and pat dry with a towel. I would recommend moisturising after even though this does contain hydrating ingredients like avocado butter, coconut oil, and seaweed it always a good idea to moisturise after exfoliating to soothe and soften skin.
Pros
- This product has an amazing smell, it smells fresh and a little bit like a margarita due to the lime and alcohol. Having a nice fragrance makes the scrub a pleasant experience.
- This product makes you glow! Dead skin cells can make your skin look dull and tired. This scrub easily removes these dead skin cells and makes you look rejuvenated.
- This product contains lots of natural ingredients making it gentle on your skin and not damaging.
- This scrub is very refreshing due to the grapefruit in it which is known to clear the mind and refresh the body so this is perfect to use at the start of the to leave you feeling refreshed and alert.
Cons
- I can only think of one con of this product, and that is the sea salt can make the scrub feel very rough, which can irritate sensitive skin if used too aggressively or frequently. Although, I do suffer from sensitive skin due to my strong acne medication and this product did not burn or sting as long as I was very gentle.
